headcanon post (subject to change)

forgettaNOTE: This post will contain SPOILERS for recent episodes of Gwitch.
Suletta is the main character of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, but is shrouded in mystery; indeed, we tend to know learn more about the deuterogonist, Miorine, and the supporting cast, than we do about Suletta herself. The ending doesn't improve this! at all... anyway.
So as a result I had to do this headcanon thread because I am inferring a lot in my writing of her and I feel like 1) I need to be keeping track of it for my own use 2) I don't want anyone to tag me and wonder where tf I'm getting my info from
Anyway this is disorganized I'll update and make it nicer later:
BASICS, Suletta at school & on Mercury
- Suletta is, despite her apparent anxiety, highly organized. She is good at remembering details and is more observant than her outward behavior would suggest. Very good at recall and retention of detail. Makes mental notes about everyone she meets & pays attention to their body language, phrasing and behavior during conversations.
- Occasionally blunt
- Actually read the school rules front to back and keeps her uniforms in good condition. Does not adapt her uniform and is kind of a stickler for it being right (on her, she doesn't gaf about other people's changes). Always put together in other words.
- initially has problems maintaining eye contact, lots of nervous tics
- Is subtly different based on if her hair is in its headband or if it's kept loose. Quieter, more contemplative, more honest
- Insecure about her height, wishes she was daintier
- Contrary to fandom I actually read her as pretty femme partially based on a few things. Her mannerisms and speech, her interests & the fact that her foil, Miorine, is like... p. futch imo lol. In addition given the RGU influence, I believe that Suletta serves as the "Anthy" in this series, or: a seemingly benign, strange young woman with little wants needs or desires of her own, who is heavily projected on, and revealed to be working behind the scenes aiding the antagonist. As Prospera is herself an RGU expy, Akio, which I'll get into but anyway. I just think Suletta wouldst like the pretty dress. The taste of butter, etc.
- her academic strengths lie in mathematics, engineering, etc. her weaknesses are social sciences and history
- all of her media references are just a few years out of date
- saw more people die than she should've on Mercury, mostly via mining accidents. has been unable to rescue people before and was too young to process this well
- disassociates from violent events to cope as a result
- likes romance, shoujo anime, old film noir, big romantic basically. cries easily at media
- has only been able to learn how to cook once she arrived to school but enjoys it and has a knack for it
- bisexual in theory but inexperienced and shy
- has insomnia due to a combo of generalized anxiety, ptsd, and the differing day/night patterns of Mercury compared to the Academy. can function on very little sleep
- likes small enclosed places
PROSPERA, Suletta's relationship with her mother
- ignoring canon to say that she was at least somewhat complicit in Prospera's scheming and her behavior errs toward learned helplessness a lot of the time
- Prospera's true neglect and emotional abuse began once Suletta was about 9 or 10. before that she looked enough like Eri to be safe from it
- her mother has mistaken her for Eri before and she's glossed over it
- Prospera is never violent, but she withholds information, affection and time as punishment
- her mother condescends to her and treats her like a child well past when it's appropriate
- Prospera's most persistent praise comes when Suletta shows skill and aptitude during piloting
- despite this, they talk once a week when Suletta is at school. part of why Suletta likes school is because her mother is more regularly checking in on her
- Prospera loves Suletta but never as much as Eri or her work
- Suletta knew Aerial was a Gundam early on in her childhood because of her interests in mobile suits and mechanics. Prospera convinced her otherwise
- they both like "cute" things, i.e. bunnies and stupid keychains. Prospera has a sticker from Suletta on her tablet and is amused when people ask about it
- they both like plays/theatre
